Around The Panhandle | July & August 2019

Dear Readers,
Summer is finally here and the long, glorious and warm days are back. People are heading East for the beach and enjoying family functions in the back yard.
This issue we bring you some great restaurants to visit, from casual fine dining at The Historic McFarland House where Chef William has created a menu for modern American, French, and country cuisine in a relaxed setting.
Have a taste for seafood? Cruise over to Mother Shucker’s Crab Shack and enjoy a variety of seafood from crabs to oysters, and even alligator tail. Before you leave be sure to try their famous “Rusty Belly Bloody Mary,” this popular cocktail consists of house made bloody mary mix, Black Draft Vodka, J.O. Spice and garnished with a jumbo shrimp.
Is your mouth still watering after reading about the restaurants? Now it’s your turn to try our grilling recipes. The beef margarita kabobs served with lime cilantro rice will have your dinner guests asking for another plate. Oh, and for your guests who are vegetarian we have a bruschetta stuffed portobello mushroom recipe that is very tasty.
The Berkeley County Youth Fair is just around the corner. Join us at the Fairground Aug 3-10 to enjoy a family fun week watching the Demolition Derby, tractor pulls, live stock shows, listening to the bands, and of course the carnival.
