Around The Panhandle | January & February 2016

Dear Readers:
What a year 2015 has been! To say we’ve been busy is quite the understatement. Seven years ago we couldn’t have dreamed about how far this journey would take us. We moved into our new office on Street of Dreams, we hired two full time employees, we acquired a new Homes and Land Franchise in Western Maryland and to put the cherry on top we also purchased the only locally owned radio station in the panhandle; WRNR Talk Radio. It sure looks like 2016 is going to be an even busier and fun-packed year.
It was my distinct honor to be named a 2015 Young Gun by West Virginia Executive Magazine in November. They obviously use the term “young” quite loosely as I recently turned 40 this year. The big 4 – 0 sure felt like a milestone for me and I do actually feel older with that number for some reason.
In our January issue you will find many more stories from the Around the Panhandle that inspire, captivate and remind us of all the positive attributes we as a community have to offer. I believe we live in the best place on the entire planet because of the people who live here. We are involved, we care, we have passion and we adapt. Now don’t get me wrong we have our issues, the biggest one being a very real and dangerous threat to our society and our future. We cannot put our heads in the sand and ignore that we have an extreme drug problem here in the panhandle. Let me go on record and say I strongly support the county council in their efforts to bring a treatment facility to Martinsburg. It is not the cure but it sure will go a long way to addressing our problem. Take the blinders off people, the drugs are already here poisoning our society and our way of life.
